If you have been following this blog for a while, you know that there have been some major changes in my world recently. Several months back I announced that I had decided to pursue my dream to move into the wine industry, which was followed by a job search trip out to California, and then eventually my wife and I decided that we would be moving to Washington State. As I went through this process, I decided that if I was going to be making huge life changes, I might as well go for gold while I'm at it. The last several months have lead me to the next big change, which is the start of my own business, Openspace Digital Media.
While I don't want this blog to be a platform for pushing my new business, I did want to update all of you who have been so supportive of my search over the last few months about what I am doing. Openspace is a combination of my love of all things marketing and social media related and my background in the online marketing world. My intention is to focus my business on marketing and social media services for the wine industry, although it won't be my exclusive focus.
I am excited about the opportunity that this new venture provides me to pursue a number of things that I am passionate about. I have generally tried to stay away from writing too much about social media and marketing on this blog, as I wanted the focus to be on wine, and not on blogging and social media. Having this additional outlet will give me the chance to write about some topics that I haven't felt were good fits for this blog, and to pursue my interests in wine marketing and social media within the wine industry. You needn't worry, I will continue posting about wine on Vinotology, and will keep the two worlds well separated.
Thanks again for all of the support that you have given me over my season of change. If you would like to follow what I am doing business-wise, or if you have an interest in marketing and social media, feel free to connect with Openspace on Twitter and Facebook, and check out the Openspace blog here.
Update – One of my friends on Twitter asked about the RSS link for the blog, so here that is.

Good luck to you, Ben! I know you’ll succeed.
Ben – Glad to hear about this news. I’m super excited for you. Please let me know if/how I can help. You always have my support.
Josh
Ben,
Congratulations and I’ll be looking forward to gleaning some knowledge from Openspace! Cheers.

Thanks Ed. I appreciate the support.
I have been following your progress as you have detailed it above and am wishing you the best of luck in this new venture.
Thanks Josh, I really appreciate that. Cheers!
Thanks Jameson! I hope that I can add some valuable content to the topic.
Thanks so much. I have been so fortunate to have such great support from this community, and I appreciate it greatly.
Hey! Best wishes! I love hearing when someone takes the big jump because to me, it shows confidence and the will to think beyond someone else’s cubicle. And the last thing you should be concerned about is your blog being a platform for your new business. Nobody can promote your business the way you can and #*%! everyone who tells you different.
Very happy for you Ben, good luck with the new biz!!
Thanks so much for the kind words Catie. I really appreciate it, especially coming from someone who is right in the thick of pursuing their own entrepreneurial endeavor.
I also don’t mind using a blog as a platform for pushing a business, just don’t want to do that with this particular one. I’ll keep it wine focused.
Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
Ben– Wish you the best of luck on your new “venture”! You will do fantastic!
