The Good
This was a good week for finding funny wine items around the web. I was introduced or discovered a couple of items that actually made me laugh out loud.
First, an item that Josh Wade, @nectarwine on Twitter, tweeted earlier this week. Before you watch this video, I have to say that Vinotology always encourages responsible drinking, so please, please, for the love of God, please, don’t try this at home. You can follow @sunday_drinker on Twitter.
The next item is something that I receieved in an email. This one is from theCHIVE website, and gives some great propper handling instructions for a bottle of Ed Hardy wine. You can follow theCHIVE on Twitter at @theCHIVE.
The Bad
The bad this week comes from a great post from DrinkNectar. I know that us winos are all well familiar with this one, but every once in a while a voice of reason has to pipe up and let the cry of the wine drinking masses be heard. Restaurant wine list price gouging sucks! There, I said it.
This is actually the second time that I’ve mentioned this post on this blog, because it’s just that good. Everything bad about restaurant wine practices is covered in this piece, from high prices, to bad glasses, to horrible selection. It’s all there.
The Ugly
I’m not sure that it could get much uglier than the recent video from Judd’s Hill Winery (@juddshill). Ugly, but incredibly funny. Judd’s Hill makes some great videos, and this one is no exception. I found this particular video from a post by Tom Wark on his Fermentation blog.
Update: Thanks to Josh for mentioning that you should keep your eye open for appearances in the video by my blogger and social media friends Rick Bakas and Thea Dwelle.
And with that, I’ve done all the damage that I can do today. Have a great weekend, and remember to drink well, drink often, and drink local!

That Judds Hill post was the funniest wine thing I’ve watched since Borat tasted wine with those two old farts in the movie. It was fun seeing some of our Twitter friends in the movie, Rick Bakas, WineBratSF, and more! HILARIOUS. Now I understand why the French wine has that ‘poopie’ smell.
Cheers and thanks so much for the kudos
Josh @nectarwine
I haven’t seen the good video yet. I’ll have to do that after I get off of work. Definitely agree with Josh’s post for Bad. As he noted earlier, it got my blood pressure going!
I love what Judd’s Hill is doing with their videos. I think Tom Wark was right when he said that it’s a risk, but that they are being true to themselves. The whole video thing is unquestionably them. It was cool to see our Twitter friends in the video. I loved it, and meant to mention that in the post, so glad you brought it up.
Joshua, I love the conversation going on about the restaurant thing, and I’m right with you on the whole thing.
Judd Hill’s video was the kind of humor I was in the mood for!
I couldn’t watch the whole thing, it’s torture! lol
